February 13, 2023 - "Follow My Delivery" app feature was probably removed by corporate because it probably violated some Teamsters contract rules. UPS and the Teamsters are negotiating a new labor contract to replace the one expiring July/August of 2023.

I really liked "follow my delivery." I'm not home often, so if I saw my driver close to work, I would just run out to the general area and pick it up from them. Todays package isn't showing up. Is this no longer a feature?

I get a map that pops up in my app about half the time. Sometimes the 3 promps (on the road, in your area, almost there) work great. Sometimes they never move at all and sometimes i don't get any map. Is this the specific truck that determines if this works? Is it my service level or maybe the driver? I'd like to understand it if at all possible thanks.

Hi everyone, recently, the Follow my Delivery map has not been working for my recent packages. Without it, I just have to wait around all day long because UPS could show up at anytime. If the map was showing I could just make sure I’m available when UPS comes in my area. Is there any way I can get the map again? Today I have a package coming from Amazon and due to high theft, everything needs a signature, so that‘s why I have to wait around all day if the map is not showing. I‘ll give a picture below of what the tracking shows me. Thanks!

I don't work at UPS but I get about 2 deliveries a week from UPS to my residential home office. I love our driver and he is just fantastic!

However, when I get the e-mail first thing in the AM letting me know my package is on the way, it's ridiculous that it allows me to follow the truck. I know I'll see our driver around 5-6 PM, but all day I can watch him drive around and even at some points in the AM be across the street from my house at a business. I'd think a typical customer may not have any how logistics work and think their package got missed, so why in the world is this a good idea?

I could see an alert a few hours before delivery, if the system could do that, but a minute by minute stalking of my driver on a map of my city is really not necessary at all. In fact, I could see that being a bit dangerous in some ways.

That's all I have to say about that. Stay safe, you all do great work and truly keep the world moving in times like this. If anyone has a suggestion box, feel free to drop them my note.

r/UPS on Reddit: UPS Follow My Delivery - What's the Point?
June 16, 2020 -

So I liked the "Follow My Delivery" feature initially but recently it has become an area of frustration.

This morning it told me to expect my delivery between 9:30am and 12:30pm. Around noon I noticed it had updated to "In Your Area" and I could see the driver literally blocks away from my house. However, within 5 mins the map updated and the driver appears to have passed my house and is now on the other side of town. The delivery estimate then updated to "To be delivered by 9:00pm". I would be far more understanding if this is the first time it has happened but ALL of my packages over the past few weeks have updated like this.

What gives? Why would the driver literally drive past my house but not stop only to have to backtrack later to drop off my shipment. Looking at the map, the driver appears to always head to the same location. Almost like they decided to go to home.

Edit: I have attempted to flair my post as Rule#5 requires for the subreddit but I am not seeing the option. Has this been disabled?

So I've been ordering packages from this small company that uses UPS to ship for a few weeks now. What I'm trying to understand is why the first package I ever ordered allowed me to see the follow my delivery live map and watch for when the truck gets near (the packages need a signature, so I didn't want to miss it) but after that first package every single other package has not given me the option or even mentioned it anywhere. All the packages use the same method of shipping (1 day ground)

i’ve been patiently waiting for this package for almost two weeks now. said it was out for delivery today and gave me the option on the app to follow my delivery, cool. the dudes near my house. i’m in not rush for the package but wanted to see it’s whereabouts and now the option to even see is gone. the delivery time and date is all still the same and whatnot but they took the option away. I was just wondering why that may have happened or if my package will be arriving later then? thanks .

Has anyone had actual accuracy with this yet?

This tracking feature! I swear it’s just a big troll,

It tells me I’ll receive it between 9:45am-1:45am

And it has a little tracker that shows my house and a truck on a map.

I swear I’m not making this up, the entire window they gave me, the truck was in my area the entire time, did 20 circles around me,

Came within my block 2+ times, had to have been on my road 10 times.

It’ll come my way, hit house on parallel streets surrounding mine, then bam shoot 20 blocks in the other direction,

Come back around circle me 10 times and head back in the other direction,

Work it’s way to my street for an hour bam.

Lmao UPS follow my delivery is the worst shit ever you mind as well jus sit on your porch all day.

Ffs I’ve spent my entire day on this bs he had 50+ opportunities to drive a few blocks to get to me.

Geez I’m so frustrated right now, I leave notes on my doors “please open door and leave package inside” and miss me literally every time, needing face to face exchange of package for cheap items, jeez ups it’s a cool idea to make it track it’s route but thanks for the blue balls and the waste of my entire day.

This “follow my delivery” literally has you sitting looking at it for hours thinking “oh he’s right there it should be here any minute”

***update Package still isn’t here hours later and truck is still doing circles

Wouldn’t be so frustrated if the cock suckers didn’t leave 5 we missed you notes then send me “follow me delivery” leading me on for 8 hours straight, telling me it’ll be here on this window. Ffs

r/UPS on Reddit: Is the Follow My Delivery feature actually tracking a truck?
September 3, 2020 -

No rant, just perplexed.

I've had a package out for delivery the last 3 days (same package) and every day I get the Follow My Delivery e-mail and watch the truck take the exact same route in my neighborhood, at the exact same time.

The weird thing is it shows this truck going through my neighborhood for 7+ hours. My neighborhood is not very big.

The weirder thing is it shows the truck only going to the same 5 streets and sits at each one for well over an hour. There are only 3-4 houses on each street.

The final weird thing: Since this is the third day of this exact same activity I started to wonder if this is actually tracking a truck since the route seems odd... So I decided to drive around my neighborhood 3 different times and realized there is no delivery truck of any kind anywhere in my neighborhood yet the FMD shows there has been one in here all day.

Honestly I'm not that concerned about the package, it will get here when it gets here, I'm mostly just curious about whether the FMD feature actually follows a truck or is it just some kind of projection? This could just be my cabin fever COVID lockdown brain going full r/conspiracytheory lol.

r/UPS on Reddit: IN REGARDS TO "FOLLOW MY DELIVERY", AN ALTERNATIVE METHOD SUGGESTION
October 10, 2021 -

UPS Management needs to carefully read and understand this, and consider implementing it.

ORIGINAL POSTER: About FOLLOW MY DELIVERY, in reference to to functionality: ............but that could also be explained pretty easily in a notification. I'd have no issue with even just a counter that said how many stops away my driver was even if it occasionally had to display a notice with the number going up and saying something urgent came up that they had to reroute for. I just want a better idea of how to coordinate our schedules with minimal time wasted for all parties involved.

RESPONSE BY ANOTHER POSTER: That "an estimated count down/up number of stops to MY Delivery counter" suggestion is a very good idea. UPS should take note and consider implementation.

No system is perfect in a fuzzy logic environment. Maybe there is a hybrid solution, combining a counter and the follow My Delivery Mapping scheme.

In my opinion, just saying "no", or "it will not work" is not a viable pathway to a resolution. Being told "no", without evaluative modeling, reminds me too much of the worthless managers that I had over a 40 year career in a huge corporation. Those type managers never cared about anything but themselves, and they were real good at telling others, how to do something that they had never lived or experienced. Be more!

Would only work if we follow the computers plan. No driver does unless they enjoy being at work

Uh, no. That’s not how that works. Drivers make decisions on their deliveries based on the day. Most routes are done the same every day, if it’s the same driver, and if it’s a cookie cutter route where everything lines up well and there’s no pick ups. Some routes have not only multiple ways to do the route, but vary by the day with certain businesses who are slammed one day but empty the next. Drivers have to make decisions on the fly. If there’s a massive bed frame in the way of my load, I’m going to that neighborhood early… but that doesn’t mean I’m delivering that whole neighborhood. I’ll be back at 7pm when there’s actual time for it. If a pick up tells me they’re going to be heavy that day, im breaking away from my route 20 min earlier than normal, to compensate. We have to work around school, traffic, etc etc. we’re not working our 10-12 hr days for anyone unless you pay money for it. The idea of updates, has to be input by the driver. Yea, No. Edit: that idea sounds good on paper, but it only works if your house is deep in the suburbs with limited businesses and traffic conditions and if the driver follows the computer to a T. Edit 2: Suggestion: Buy a delivery box. There’s simple ones, and also ones with locks and codes to open them. If you told me the code to your lockbox, you would be one of my favorite deliveries because even with a signature required, I wouldn’t hesitate to deliver, since it’s a secure location.

r/UPS on Reddit: Did UPS get rid of the live delivery map?
January 3, 2025 -

I get packages delivered frequently by UPS. Within maybe the last month or so I've noticed that when the package is out for delivery I am no longer getting the option to track the progress on the live map. This has been happening with UPS Ground packages and is happening right now with a UPS Next Day Air Saver package which is out for delivery right now. I checked within the app and I am not seeing the option to track on live map and I also checked on my PC through the UPS website. Has anyone else experienced this problem recently?

hello! is there a way to track where the UPS truck is? I have an emergency and my son can not leave work to sit at my house all day to wait for the package. I also leave for vacation tomorrow so won’t be back for a while.
