[Toronto] vintage thrifting super expensive?
I can't comment on the Toronto area specifically, but when you get curated/targeted thrifts that cater to a specific type of item you're paying a premium for the store to filter through all the other junk to filter out what they deem is worthy. Here in the US I like goodwill and Savers (think you guys have it up there as value village?) But 99% of the stuff you sift through is crap. This week was decent though. A couple of Brooks brothers shirts, a Pendleton for 3 bucks, a YSL shirt and some loake oxfords for a fiver. More on reddit.com

A Fashion Lover’s Guide to The Best Toronto Vintage Stores
July 24, 2025 - This chain of three stores scattered across the Annex, Parkdale and Riverside, is a unique player on Toronto’s second-hand scene. It’s essentially the city’s answer to New York City mainstay Beacon’s Closet, where you can trade in your own clothes for cash or store credit. Shopping and selling your clothes here feels like participating in a city-wide circular clothing exchange. The Common Sort buyers are discerning, which means you’ll find of-the-moment trends, popular brands like Everlane and Reformation, true vintage and classic basics like denim and leather jackets.

July 9, 2024 -
I find most of the vintage shops in the city have become boutique style super overpriced. Any reasonably priced vintage/second-hand shops where I can find nice practical pants for those long days on set?

I find when I'm paying a bit more, I'm literally paying for the effort it took those people to find those great items. So I really don't mind, because the quality is fantastic. If you want to sift through yourself though, there's a vintage by-the-pound place on Dundas West at Sorauren (across from Tommy's). It's quite cheap... because it's by the pound, lol. It's a good place to start with and then go west on Dundas or up to Bloor at Lansdowne and work your way east... there are so many shops there of varying degrees (fancy like 96 Tears, a bunch of non-fancy ones, etc etc)

Where to get vintage menswear in Toronto
December 10, 2014 - The first time I came home with vintage clothes, my mother was horrified. I was a teenager and she an old-fashioned Portuguese mom, and the used 1970s loud pants I had bought in Kensington Market were, in her eyes, disgusting. "Who knows if those were ever washed," she complained, "you could get some kind of…
