The line today gives girls today the opportunity to explore the past and think about all the possibilities the future will bring. In 2019, another reboot of the line happened. American Girl decided to go back to calling the line Historical Characters. The reboot brought the characters new book covers and brought back book illustrations. In May of 2021, American Girl rereleased the six original dolls.
