I just opened a checking account and I was wondering if they automatically send you a debit card when you open the account or if you have to request one. I can’t find anything online on this and I can’t figure out how to request a card either

They should just send you one. Look for an email in the next day or two that will say your debit card is on its way. If not, try calling. I can't remember if you need your debit card number to call or not.

They will be sending you a card in the mail. It may take up to 7 business days if i’m not mistaken.

Hey guys. I have been waiting for my wells fargo atm card to be delivered for several weeks now. I have requested for it 3x. Yesterday being the 3rd time and had it expedited. The agent told me they will ship it via fedex but I have not received ang tracking number in my email. How do I track my debit card? I really do need it the soonest. Would appreciate any advice 🙏🏼

Sign up for USPS Informed Delivery. Great service. Guessing your mail is being stolen or misdirected. Alternatively, the bank has the wrong address on file, especially if you have moved since opening it. Updating it online may not update it everywhere in their systems. Or vice-versa. Insist on knowing exactly what address it will be mailed to. Finally, this presumes your account is working (able to login, bill pay, withdraw in person, etc) other than no debit card. If your account is locked, then fraud dept is likely involved. In that instance, they may have no intention of mailing the card.

If they are sending via FedEx, you will likely need to call the bank for the tracking number.

One of the things I liked about Wells Fargo was the fact that you can create a personalized debitcard. Is it possible to go online and have one made for another bank I have? I am with CaptialOne 360 Checking and they don't offer it. Was just curious

Since fraud protections are inferior on Debit, you should really look towards changing your system to substitute your Debit needs for Credit Cards. Discover credit cards have many "fun" options for their cards. Not exactly custom, but might scratch that itch that you want.

I know that through the app I can request a replacement card. Instead of doing that and waiting for it to be delivered, is it possible to just walk into a branch near me and get a replacement card the same day?

No, there are no temporary or replacement cards in the branch. The only option is to order a replacement card (whether in person, online, over the phone, or in the app), and use the digital card until the physical card arrives. If you call to replace, you might be able to convince them to expedite shipping so you can get the physical card sooner, but in my experience this only happens under certain circumstances.
