1 week ago - Factorials have been discovered in several ancient cultures, notably in Indian mathematics in the canonical works of Jain literature, and by Jewish mystics in the Talmudic book Sefer Yetzirah. The factorial operation is encountered in many areas of mathematics, notably in combinatorics, where its most basic use counts the possible distinct sequences โ€“ the permutations โ€“ of

Answer (1 of 7): Here is a process that you can use to figure out the lower factorials if you already know the higher factorials . For example,if you know the value for 5! โ€” then you can figure out the value for 4! * (N-1)! = N! / N * 4! = 5! / 5 = 120 / 5 = 24 * 3! = 4! / 4 = 24 / 4 = 6 * 2...

January 16, 2022 - Other answers, do in fact break the rules of math that we like. ... Basically, if we define 0! To be anything other than 0, the factorial operator loses its intended meaning, to be the product of sequentially decreasing adjacent numbers. If we donโ€™t define 0!, then we just canโ€™t use it at all. So hereโ€™s the situation, if we define it some other way, it breaks our whole operator, if we donโ€™t define it we canโ€™t use it, but if we do define it to be 0!=1, it doesnโ€™t break anything, because multiplying by 1 maintains the same number.
