AP Computer Science is more like "Introduction to Programming". Programming is not the same thing as CS, however, the modern computer science should be a good programmer and it is an important tool. This is what computer science does: Do you know what a Fibonacci number is? It's a number that is equal to the previous two Fibonacci numbers combined. The first two are 0 and 1. So the third is 1, then 2, and 3, 5... Pretty simple. If I ask you the 8th Fibonacci number, you could probably get there with math and counting on a piece of paper. If I asked for the 10th, 15th, 20th it starts getting harder. If I ask for the 1578th, no way you can do it. However, computers are really good at repetitive math. You could write a program that spits out whatever Fibonacci number you want. If you can teach a computer to calculate a Fibonacci number once, you are done forever, you can get whichever one you want.
