Well I'm 3 episodes in and generally love but with some caveats. The animals they're focusing on are fascinating to watch, I've always searched for videos of lions and hyenas online.
Some of the photography of the show is incredible, as with all BBC nature shows.
Criticisms so far are: Stop showing everything in slo mo! Sometimes you want to see the natural speed of these animals. I find the use of slo mo a bit predictable and almost annoying sometimes.
Lack of facts. I know Attenborough is getting on a bit and there is a certain minimal style to these shows but would it really hurt to slip in some factual information? Its all vague phrases to highten the drama.
My biggest criticism is the feeling that in trying to shape a story with suspense and happy or sad endings, what we're seeimg feels very manipulated to the point I lose trust in what I'm seeing. The way events are shown with so much build up and 'surprise endings' feels a bit fake.
Anyway is anyone else watching?
