But then things get way more complicated when they finally do get to the Wizard and the Wizard demands they kill Elphaba/retrieve her broomstick. And potentially seeing an opportunity in this, Fiyero then helps plot Elphaba faking her death. He goes along with the witch hunt, possibly even planting the seed in her head that water would melt her, in service of this plan. Fiyero just left the Wizard's guard to be with Elphaba, which is the entire reason he became the Scarecrow (because the other guards were going to kill him probably). He's on Elphaba's side and knows that the things people say about her are wrong.
So, if things go as they went in The Wizard of Oz, why did he go with Dorothy and help her to meet the Wizard and potentially go along with the witch hunting? (granted, he's not on stage for March of the Witch Hunters, but neither is Dorothy, and she's the reason its happening)

Well, we have to speculate as there's no canon reason but it's not too much of a stretch to assume a few things. Dorothy helped him down from his pole and surely Fiyero saw that Dorothy had Nessa's shoes and must have realized she was the one trapped in the house that killed her. Fiyero isn't a monster, he'd be wanting to protect the girl and make sure she's not eaten alive by the Wizard -- and she does say in the movie that she's got a witch mad at her, so if a similar scene occurred in the canon of Wicked then Fiyero stuck with Dorothy as a way of finding Elphaba again.

One thing I (33M) noticed about Wicked... why would Fiyero help Dorothy defeat Elphaba? If this plot runs in conjunction with the events of the 'Wizard of Oz,' the scarecrow plays a large role in trying to destroy the witch, and the witch even sets him on fire.
The only thing I can think of is that when Elphaba cast the spell to remove the Scarecrow's brain, it erased Fiyero's memory of her, and when he got his brain from the Wizard, it then made him remember.
Am I overthinking this? Please let me know.

He joins up with Dorothy to look for Elphaba - his actual motives are less "defeat the wicked witch" and more "find my girlfriend." His actions with Dorothy are all to help facilitate the plan that he and Elphaba hatched to reunite, fake her death, and then escape Oz together.

Because she “defeats” Elphaba… but Elphaba is isn’t actually harmed. She (possibly with Fiero’s &/or Galinda’s help) let people believe water would kill her so she could fake her death and escape.

This has probably been covered before, forgive me I only just saw Wicked last night (loved it.)
All of the WoZ tie-ins were cute and got good laughs from everyone and I can buy all of them except for Fiyero the Scarecrow.
A.) Nessarose is used as bait by dropping Dorothy’s house on her.
B.) We the audience, watch Glinda send Dorothy on her way down the road (to meet the scarecrow)
C.) Elphaba confronts Glinda, Fiyero fights for and frees Elphaba, Fiyero is captured and turned into the scarecrow.
Either
1.) The soldiers have to carry Fiyero PASSED Dorothy on the road and post him up for her to find.
2.) The yellow brick road takes a long looping giant hairpin turn immediately before doubling back near the Munchkin village where the soldiers post him up.
Is there a better explanation other than just shrugging our collective shoulders?

I think they might rectify that in WFG - onstage in the musical there's not enough time to stretch details so I do think there will be some few differences that make the timeline make sense. One detail is in the trailer when Dorothy is walking with the Munchkins and someone speculated that it's the Munchkins and not Glinda who gives the shoes to Dorothy.

One of the biggest continuity issues of the second act IMO. This could all be fixed by having Dorothy stay the night in or near Munchkinland and set off down the road the next morning when she finds him the day after it happened.

One possible explanation for his difficulty walking is that he had to relearn how to do it without having muscles or a skeleton. Also, Fiyero has no difficulty playing "brainless" when he wants to.
