Wide leg pants never went out of style for business attire. Even now, in all but the most fashion forward fields, any gathering of professional women will mostly be in "trouser cut" pants. Not bootcut, not super wide leg, definitely not skinny. I think that silhouette will continue to be very popular because it works. It never really looked dated or trendy.

But skinny pants may never go completely out. Bootcut pants never went completely out, as hard as it may be for FFA to accept that. They continued to sell them and lots of people continued to wear them. (By contrast, it was impossible to get skinny leg jeans in the 90s. I remember my Spanish exchange student wanting them and she ended up getting straight leg and having her mom alter them.)

I’m short, too (5’0 exact), so I know the feeling. I’ve had success in buying cropped wide leg pants; they turn out to be just the right length for me. Sometimes it’s still a touch too long but then you won’t have to take off as much. To balance the volume at the bottom, you’ll want to pair it with fitting or close-fitting tops. Crop tops, tucked button-up tops, light sweaters...as long as it’s not oversized or too voluminous, you’ll be ok. As for shoes, anything with a heel will work. Sandals, heels, sneakers. I love wide leg and they're the only pants I can buy online and have them fit. I have a handful but none are perfect. I can tell you what I do and don't like about some. Pact : I like the weight of the fabric and the shape of the legs. They have too much fabric from the crotch upwards. Not too long, just kinda baggy. They're fine with longer or looser shirts. Honestly they're a little too big for me, but the size down was too tight. Athleta Brooklyn might be a good choice for work. They're a sort of activewear type fabric, but you can't really tell. Super comfy with stretch. I don't love the elastic waist or the pleats, but overall they're pretty good. More on reddit.com
