October 5, 2025Proof the Windows 11 CPU Requirements are arbitrary on Microsoft’s Supported Processor list. 4th Gen Intel is “not supported” on the latest version of Windows 10 according to the same list…. Runs perfectly fine on my Intel 2nd Gen.

I'm guessing I'm going to need a new processor to upgrade to Windows 11, but i don't understand why, when the requirements says 1 ghz or faster with 2 or more cores. I don’t know specifics about parts and how I’m meant to know what’s better but I thought my pc is at least decent for how much I paid when I bought it, I put off updating to windows 11 because I far more prefer windows 10, now I’m getting a message saying it doesn’t meet the minimum requirements.

You are correct, your specs are more than enough to run Windows 11, However, Microsoft has a more strict compatibility check than just raw specs. Windows 11 requires Secure Boot to be enabled, and TPM 2.0 which your motherboard supports, in just needs to be enabled via BIOS settings
