Wireless Vocal Mic
Shure Wireless Range - SOS FORUM
Hi all!
I tend to be a jack of all trades and a master of none, which means I’m wanting some insight from you all regarding wireless gear.
I am in a band.
I own a Shure PSM300 H-band system for IEM’s.
I own a Shure SLXD G-band system for wireless guitar.
I am looking to purchase a wireless mic system. More specifically, an SLXD beta58 system.
These will all be rack mounted in the same case and live on stage.
🚨The up front question: should I get the SLXD wireless mic system in the same band as my SLXD guitar system, or should I get it in a different band?🚨
I’m going off on a rant, feel free to read and critique my logic; but the question above stands.

Pros of purchasing in same band: •interchangeable transmitter and receivers •Maybe this helps with reliability of signal if they are all working in same band? I think I’m wrong on this one tbh. •maybe there’s a situation where I’d be grateful that the gear is all compatible?
Cons of purchasing in same band: •takes up an extra space in that band •potentially increases risk of no wireless gear if that band has has no room at a particular location/venue
——————————————————-
Pros of purchasing in different band: •no chance of interference •risk mitigation in the event there are no frequencies available in one of the bands
Cons of purchasing in a different band: •wireless gear not interchangeable •maybe there’s a situation I had wished the gear was compatible.

I’ve done my research in my hometown.
One band has 18 frequencies. The other band has 18 frequencies. The other band has 17 frequencies.
The reality is that no matter what I choose, it’s going to work. But just thinking about if there is any real reason to go one way or the other.
I love my wired Shure SM58, but I recently used a Shure Wireless mic at a company retreat to sing at a company dinner and going back to the wired mic makes me realize how much I fight with the mic cable when moving around.
The mic I used at the retreat dinner a few weeks ago:

I'm a little bit over budget, I'll get into that in a moment, so this purchase might have to wait a few months, unless someone here has advice on something equivalent for a little less money.
What I'm doing and my budget problem:
In July I got picked up as a lead singer for an INXS tribute band in S. California area and we're currently still in the rehearsal stage until the end of the year. In reality we may not be ready to book shows until February 2023. The band decided to go with an In Ear Monitor system so I invested $800 in a Shure IEM as well as some money in the clothing and a custom made wig.
Moving around like Michael Hutchence with a wired microphone can be challenging. I've stepped on the cable and pulled it out of the mic many times, I've even had the mic pulled from my hands and land with a loud and heavy thump on the floor. Luckily that wasn't my mic when it happened.
If a $1,000 wireless mic is what I'm looking at then that's an investment I'm willing to make, but I also don't mind buying something a little less expensive now and then buying the more expensive one later after doing a few shows.
Any thoughts and advice is appreciated. I've never done anything like this. Members of the tribute band heard me sing, asked to come to their next rehearsal, and I was asked to join afterwards. I got to know the others in the band and one of them just happens to be mutual friends with my friends as well as a family member of another friend. There were connections and we all seem to have the same goals and enjoy the same things in life. I would have turned down the offer, but these people are amazing to me the more I get to know them and they are also very talented. I tend to stay clear of drama which is one of the biggest reasons I've stayed away from bands. The only band I've been in was one I put together made of friends that went into a recording studio to record an anniversary gift for my wife and the following year we turned the gift into a music video.
Thanks for any help and advice that anyone may have!
