You can sharpen any steel, but steels with high carbide content can seem to get a little more "chippy" since the carbide does not really get taken off from the sharpener so it can chip off in use. Michael Christy does a good video on "carbide tearout" More on reddit.com

All the available leather strip belts come with the same green and white compounds. I’m looking for a mirror polish for my EDC and other knives in my collection. I have several in m390, Elmax, SV-90, n690, and the like… no cheap stuff, to be sure. Would diamond liquid compound be a good choice, and what grits should I be looking at?

My experience using a guided system is to work fro a 5 or 6 micron down to 3 or 4 then 1 then 0.5 and 0.25. I have not tried 0.1 yet. They only one i could get at the time was stroppy stuff and seemed to do the job just fine
