hi everyone :)
lately i saw a lot of post about tumbler Rolling Knife Sharpener and it seems really interesting and easy way to sharp my knifes, after some review's i saw many people recommended the horl 2 on the tumbler, i also find out about the new Work Sharp Rolling Knife Sharpener but i can't find any Comparison between the two, Thes anyone has experience with any of them? Or maybe there is good Rolling Knife Sharpener that he can recommend?

Are you set on a rolling sharpener? What are you planning on sharpening? The rolling sharpeners are not great for something like an EDC pocket knife. They're decent enough for kitchen knives but for the same price you can get two or three grits of Shapton splash and go stones that will be faster and more versatile, after you've learned to use them. For most pocket knives and outdoor knives a guided system like the Worksharp Precision Adjust will work a lot better. The precision adjust won't work for a skinny blade (e.g. a Case medium stockman or a CRKT CEO), but then neither would a roller.

I am in the market for an idiot proof knife sharpener for my fairly nice kitchen knives I received as a gift, I have narrowed it down to either a horl rolling sharpener or a worksharp precision adjust but I have no experience with either, I’m not interested in dealing with or learning a whetstone, just want something quick that’ll keep my knives good enough to cut vegetables

There is no idiot-proof sharpener. You will have to learn the fundamentals of sharpening one way or the other. The only advantage these systems have is that they make holding an angle easier, but that is not even the hardest part of sharpening. Learn to sharpen on whetstones or go to a local sharpener imo.

Rolling sharpeners are crap, the plates gum up way too fast. Send some business to your local sharpener if your knives are that nice that you do not want to learn to sharpen on them.

Outdoors55 did a very in-depth review on this, including the history and the usage, time Vs effectivity, that kind of thing. This might be it but I'm pretty tired right now so it might be wrong. Make of it what you will, but I won't use one

I know a lot of replies will say "just use a whetstone" and I get that it's better. But honestly at this time I'd rather have something that can sharpen my knives easily and be mostly foolproof.
I've been hearing a lot about these rolling sharpeners and they seem pretty interesting, but it's almost impossible to find actual reviews. Every video seems to be sponsored. I've seen the Horl, the Tumblr, Worksharp, etc. The Tumblr especially must be spending a fortune on advertising.
Are any of these actually good? Especially the Tumblr. It's made in China so is it any different than the generic ones on Amazon?

Hello, Lately Im being bombarded with ads on rolling sharpeners and I was wondering if any of you have any experience with those. The one I checked was from company name Horl and it looked decent. I have tried using wetstone in the past but Im not very good with it, it takes me a lot of time and the results were not very convincing. Im afraid that it is just some internet sensation that looks cool on a video but does not work well in real life.

I have a lot of whetstones, both water and oil type, and two outstanding electric sharpeners together about $400 new. What I actually use 99% of the time is a cheap $2 plastic thing. It has one slot with a couple of carbide inserts, and a second slot with two little ceramic rods in a V shaped angle to one another. I just drag the knife through the slot (usually ceramic only) a few times and done. It doesn't do as good a job as the expensive tools, but it does a sufficient job in about 30 seconds from the time I open the drawer it's in to the time I put it away.

Hi op, i have one. My knives are mid-low tier knives which are made from somewhat soft steel. Before that i had a vulkanus , which felt very rough on the soft steel and took much material of the knife. The horl takes of lees material and it seems to make the knife edge more clean and smooth, but in a good and sharp way. However i feel like i have to sharpen my knives more often than with the vulkanus. This might be due to the quality of my knives though. All in all i can recommend it. It is fairly intuitive and easy to use and helps me sharpen my knives more than with wetstones and other more time consuming methods. I think wetstones gives a better result, but only given that you have the right technique, which i dont.
