Wusthof Classic Ikon series?

Wusthof Classic 6 VS 8 Inch?
I'm looking to upgrade by knife set (currently using a Victorinox Forschner set from my grandma that's probably 30+ years old) and am thinking of the Wusthof Classic Ikon series. Looking specific at the 8" chef's knife, 6" utility knife, and 3.5" paring knife off the bat, and possibly adding some more later.
Before anyone says it, I'm also planning on getting a Japanese chef's knife (probably 2-3) too. I like and use both styles for different things. But my wife (who cooks less than me but will still use them) prefers Western style. So I'm getting a main Western set and supplimenting with Japanese.
So, my main questions are:
Is Wusthof the best choice here? To me they seem like the best Western style option (that isn't custom made like Kramer, I can't afford that). I'm open to suggestions though.
Is the Classic Ikon series worth it over the regular Classic series? I definitely prefer the Classic Ikon series without the full bolster, and the handle also looks more comfortable. Any other differences?
Is the Ikon series worth it over the Classic Ikon series? Or is it just the wood vs synthetic handle? Idk if the price difference is worth just a wood handle.
Thanks for the help!
