The "X" stand is the quickest to ... your keyboard around if it's not a "permanent" setup. Z Stands can be broken down - but they generally involve more breakdown steps. The benefit of a "Z" is it gives you less obstructed foot room. Generally the "X" stand doesn't get in the way even if there is less leg room. But a sitting configuration may favor the "Z". Hi, For the past ten years I have been using a "Giraffe" Double X stand which takes my 20KG Yamaha EX5 with no problems. In 2006, I "upgraded" it to add a second tier, which takes a Novation Remote61 (unsure of the weight, but it's much lighter than the EX5 ) with no issues. More on yamahamusicians.com

I got the wooden one that yamaha makes to match my model. It's very sturdy and makes it look much more 'piano' like, but you lose the mobility. It didn't matter to me as it stays in the same space, it depends what you're looking for. More on reddit.com
