While it's the budget digital piano action of the Yamaha line, it's definitely not a bad action at all -- the Yamaha P-125 is still one of the most recommended entry level digital pianos because it's a solid instrument all around. Are some people going to prefer the Roland action? Sure. We all have individual preferences when it comes to sound and feel for our instrument. That's why it's important to try out instruments before you buy if possible so you can be confident you're getting the right instrument for YOU. Answer from Tyrnis on reddit.com

Some people say it is and, for exemple, Roland fp30x is better. Other people say the exact opposite. What do you think?

Action is 100% personal. I have owned a Yamaha P-125 (GHS dual sensor, smooth shiny plastic keys), Roland FP-30 (PHA4 triple sensor with escapement and matte finish) and Casio PX-S1100 and now PX-S3000 (dual sensor smart scaled hammer and matte finish). Roland FP-30: Heaviest, and closest representation of an acoustic piano Yamaha P-125: Lighter, super fun to play, nothing whatsoever wrong with it (which is why Yamaha continues to use it on new products like the DGX-670) Casio PX-S: Lighter still, even more fun to play, great finish My personal preference: Casio then Yamaha then Roland. I like a lighter fast action (good for both modern rock/pop piano as well as non piano voices like e. piano and organ), and the Casio is absolutely fantastic for that, and the finish adds a surprising amount of control. I liked the Yamaha as well, but not big on the shiny finish. The Roland was far too heavy an action for my personal taste, and I rarely if ever touch an acoustic piano so for me that's not at all an issue. But like I say, action is totally personal depends what you like and what you're after.

Yamaha P125 Review [After 1 Year of Intensive Use]
This doesn’t affect the honesty of this review in any way though. As we’re already accustomed to by Yamaha, their digital pianos in the P series are very lightweight and designed to be easily moved from one place to the next. With this in mind, it seems as if Yamaha has designed the P125 specially to fit the needs of gigging artists who are constantly on the move.

Review: Yamaha P-125. 3 Years Ownership Review, Is It Still Worth Buying in 2021.
February 20, 2022 - Review:Yamaha P-125$699.99 USD I acquired the Yamaha P-125 3 years ago. Since then, many new digital pianos have been released by competing brands with more features, functions and often with a lower price tag. In my opinion, this digital piano truly shines best when used with Yamaha’s very capable Smart Pianist mobile app.Unfortunately, most owners I know do not bother to download the app and connect their iPad or smartphone to their P-125 which is really a shame.

Yamaha P125 (P121) review: An Upgrade to the Iconic P115
August 13, 2024 - Roland fp 10 in India costs around 650 US dollars (due to import charges and customs) and Yamaha p125 costs around 736 Dollars.According to the reviews Roland fp 10 has a much better action amongst all of them.So should i go for fp 10 or p125 keeping in mind the fact that if i choose Roland i would be paying 150 dollars extra just for the delivery on the other hand if go for p125 i would be paying only for the piano.I’m a beginner and i want the best touch and feel available( i won’t be gigging but only want it as a personal learning piano) .And another fact is that I’m concerned about the build quality.Which one of them would provide a better bang for the buck in the long run as in India there are authorized service centers for Yamaha and not for Roland.

Yamaha P-125 Review - Is This Really an Improvement Compared to Previuos Versions? | All Pianos
As you become more proficient you will start finding flaws in them, but as long as you are in that initial learning phase, you will have little to complaint about. Yamaha’s sound engine is one of the best and while you get a watered down version of what you would find in a more expensive digital piano, it still does a decent job and for its price is quite the value for money.

Yamaha P-125 review
June 2, 2025 - You can read my review of the Roland FP-30 here. So right off the bat, it’s probably worth noting that the P255 is a more physically substantial digital piano as compared to the Yamaha P-125. The P255 has about two more inches in depth compared to the P125, and its 38 pounds is much more challenging to carry around for long periods of time as compared to the P-125’s 26 pound frame.

r/piano on Reddit: Yamaha P-125 - Beginner Piano. Too good to be true?
June 15, 2023 -
Hi all,
I'm being offered a three year old Yamaha P-125 for £300 ($380.00).
I am a beginner piano player and am starting my first lesson tomorrow (thrice a week).
Wanted to find out whether this would be a good first piano, whether this is a good price and whether I should be on the lookout for anything; in case it's damaged etc.
Complete noob to this, but seems like a good price. They are selling because they want to buy a 'Yamaha CK88 Digital Workstation'
Comes with a Sustain Pedal and X stand.

They go for like $800 new or something so the price isn't crazy. It's a great piano, highly recommend, I have one and I've been playing for 22 years. Very good for the price (Yamaha usually is). I'd make sure all the notes work and don't get stuck, and make sure one of the headphone inputs works if you're worried someone's not being honest with the sale.

I have one as well as a p-45. Same touch, different sound engines but the one on the 125 is a little too bright to my ears (125 has better sound definition but the default sound on the 45 is milder on the ear. Does anyone know if it can be eq’ed?). I added a 3-pedal unit recently and absolutely love the 2-way audio system. For this price, you may not find better, especially because that’s a keeper.

Yamaha P-125a 88-key Digital Piano - Black Reviews | Sweetwater
If used stand-alone in a combo, I don't think the onboard speakers would be adequate. Basically, unless you're a piano virtuoso, which I am not, I think the P125 is an excellent choice for virtually any level of expertise, especially considering its price point.

Yamaha P125 Review - Update to the Famous P115
As we said above, the Yamaha P125 is not just any ordinary digital piano. We are looking at literally the world’s most popular digital piano in the $1,000 CAD range. That doesn’t mean it’s the best, but by judging by statistics from Amazon, it’s sheer popularity is not in question. And really, it makes sense why the P125 has this crown.
