Just letting you guys know that you can get YouTube premium features (minus the downloading part) with an app called YouTube Vanced!

I thought this sub might benefit from this because picture-in-picture is also a feature! Apparently YouTube added that function to the US YouTube app but Canada never got it lol.

Background play, ad-free content, it's all there :)

Is there a app that has same features as premium? I used YouTube vanced but download and add queue is for paid. I live in UK.

Okay, I recently switched to iPhone for a reason. I thought it would be fine if i pay for YouTube premium. BUT it was not!!

I didn’t know there’s a restriction on mini player playback on videos made for kids. I listen to quite a lot of Disney music and it just doesn’t let me do other stuff while I’m listening to them!!!

Also things I’m missing

• sponsor block (why on earth am I forced to watch ads when I paid for no ads experience?!)

• ability to block shorts from appearing

• removing unnecessary fluff like community posts

And these are not all.

Revanced is so superior to YouTube premium in every single way so far. I can’t believe I didn’t realize this earlier. Thanks devs A LOT! Being able to control what I see is so great. Enthusiasm achieves something greater than what money can buy.

- Windows/Linux/MacOS

1. Install Firefox. You can use a browser that supports MV2 extensions (e.g. Brave, Opera, Edge) but you will have the best results with Firefox. If using MV2 isn't an option, you can still use MV3 browsers (e.g Chrome) but it will be nowhere near as good as MV2.

2. Install uBlock Origin (if you are using a MV3 browser, install uBlock Origin Lite).

3. (OPTIONAL) Install SponsorBlock (skips sponsored segments in videos), Return Youtube Dislike (self explanatory), and Enhancer for YouTube (adds tons of extra features).

- Android

1. Install Revanced Extended.

- iOS/iPadOS

1. Install SideStore.

2. Go to the YTLitePlus website and click add to AltStore/SideStore.

3. Make sure the Wireguard VPN is activated, open SideStore, go to sources, open the YTLitePlus source, and install YTLitePlus.

4. Open Shortcuts and create an automation for time of day, set time of day to what time you want the app to be refreshed (any time works fine), then add the following steps: https://imgur.com/a/Jy0Ntgg

- Apple TV

1. Install Yattee.

2. Go to settings, then locations.

3. Under Locations Manifest, paste "https://r.yattee.stream/manifest-invidious-piped.json".

4. Reload Manifest.

5. Select the country under Public Countries.

• You can also use this method on iOS/iPadOS if you do not want to sideload

- Android TV

1. Install SmartTube

- Proprietary TV OS (e.g. LG WebOS, Tizen OS)

• The method for how to get ad free YouTube varies between each OS, so I can't list every single method. The best universal method would be to get a cheap android tv box and use SmartTube. Otherwise, you'll need to do your own research on this one.
