Hello everyone,
I wanted to bring attention to a problem I've been experiencing on the YouTube app for Android after the most recent update. When I play a video in full screen and then exit full screen, the video pauses automatically. Even worse, I lose all control over the video playback—there are no play/pause buttons, and I can’t resume the video unless I go back to full screen mode.
Additionally, when I try to minimize the video (to use the picture-in-picture feature or multitask), instead of appearing as a floating video, the video completely disappears from the screen. The only way I can get it back is by going into my YouTube history and reopening it from there.
To fix this, I had to roll back to the previous version of the YouTube app by removing all updates, which made everything work normally again. But I’m wondering if anyone else is experiencing the same issue or if there’s a known solution for it?
If you have any advice or fixes, I’d really appreciate it!
Thanks in advance!
A bit over a year ago, I noticed that when I went to update my apps in the play store, a problem kept appearing with YouTube: "couldn't update". It was strange but ultimately didn't matter. This was until the last month or so, when YouTube required the user to update the app in order to access the main page. So in order to use the app, I need to update it, which I can't do.
What have I tried? First idea was to reinstall the app, but I can't do that because YouTube was preinstalled with Android. The next idea was to clear my cache and memory in the app. This did work, but only the first time I tried it. I closed the app, reopened it, and was back to where I was. Clearing cache/memory has not worked since then either.
So now I'm stumped, and I'm forced to use the browser version of YouTube. Google's help page is super shallow about this issue as well. Anyone have any ideas? Additionally, why could it be that the app isn't able to update?
Howdy. I have a galaxy j3 luna pro, android version 6.0.1 and up until a few weeks ago it was working like a treat for my media center purposes. Didn't use it the one day, and came back to that error.
I've tried everything i can find in terms of ways to roll the youtube version back and blocking it from updating. It'll work for a day or two, then give the same error.
Using a different device is out of the question. I have to keep using this device, a newer one (like my actual phone) is incompatible the setup. It also has to be the youtube app, or for that matter any app that offers screen off play. I've tried multiple browsers and none allow play while the screen is off.
Are there any solutions to the situation or am i basically SOL and will need to effectively use two devices?
