Hi all! I’m trying to go to the Zwilling Factory Sale later in Markham and it’s the last day today.
Anybody been there lately? How are the lines and the whole experience so far? Anything I should expect? It’s my first time going and just wanted to see what to expect. Thanks!
Has anyone been to one of Zwillings warehouse sales? They sat ‘Up To 80% off’ which I assume to mean 80% off something nobody wants and 10% off everything else. They gave zwilling knives and appliances, Staub cookware, and Demeyere cookware. Is it worth it? All the videos are very strategic to not show prices, but the ones I do see are roughly 30-70% off. I also saw a long line. Any input would be helpful.
I got there at 9:45 and there was already a decent line. Luckily I was part of the first wave to get in. The Treasure Hunt aisle is the furthest aisle so go there first if you’re looking for Staub stuff. They also have Staub DOs in another aisle (only wide 4qts though) - these ones are in their boxes. I think what made this one different though was there was far less inventory (at least what I can tell from previous warehouse sale photos) than previous warehouse sales. The treasure hunt table was sparse with DOs… I think probably because of the size of the place.
There was one La Mer Dutch oven (looked like a 7 qt) and one woman took it before I could get it. I don’t even think all of the treasure hunt items were discounted to the same price? (At previous warehouse sales everything was $150). I could be wrong but the DOs I did spot were $180.
It is a madhouse and it is a SMALL place. What makes it worse is there are aisles. People are bringing wagons, strollers, etc. inside and it is impossible to move with all of the people (Party City used to be there). I would not suggest coming if you get easily overstimulated. I bought some stuff to make it worth it since I drove over an hour to get here but as soon as I got in there tbh I wanted to leave. I can’t believe they couldn’t find an open space (like… a warehouse or former furniture store where there are 0 aisles so they could just set up tables, like Le Creuset FTT).
Selection was sparse if you want cast iron. They had a lot of knives and stainless steel pots if you’re looking for that. Some small appliances and food storage stuff too. Honestly the cast iron was already picked over from the Treasure Hunt table when I left (around 10:30) and I’m not sure if it’s being restocked today, but if you’re thinking of coming, come EARLY!!!

Small kitchen appliances (blenders airfryers, coffee machines), cutlery, dutch ovens, so lmany knives. The highlight for me was more than 10 bins full of non-stick, ceramic, and stainless steel pots and pans. All $29.99. Sizes ranging from 8in-12in pans. 1.5qt-8qt pots. Lids are $4.99.
This weekend (and one in December) in Pleasantville is the annual Zwilling Warehouse Sale. Anyone ever check it out before? What’s it like in terms of offerings and prices? Do you need to get there early/line up or anything?
Was hoping to see if anyone went and saw any stainless steel pans available, medium size preferred. Wonder if its worth the drive and trip down there
I found this while Googling for another thread: https://documentcentre.ey.com/#/detail-engmt?eid=567
It looks like the mall has millions in outstanding debt. I wonder what it means for the mall and the site?
On December 13, 2023, Ernst & Young Inc. (“EYI” or the “Receiver”) was appointed by Order of the Ontario Superior Court of Justice (Commercial List) as Receiver and Manager of all of the assets, undertakings and properties of King Square Ltd. (the “Debtor”) ...
The Receiver is aware of the following mortgages and financing statements that have been registered against the real property and the Debtor, respectively:
| Mortgage | Amount |
|---|---|
| Firm Capital/MarshallZehr Group Inc | $52,000,000 |
| Aviva Insurance Company of Canada | $50,000,000 |
| Building & Development Mortgages Canada Inc. and Olympia Trust Company | $8,562,687 |
| OYSX Inc | $5,000,000 |
| Wu Family Holdings Inc. | $7,000,000 |
| FAAN Mortgage Administrators | TBD |
| Guoping Li | TBD |
In the filing:
"The Debtors' majority shareholder and main principal moved to China during Covid and has not been back since and has not maintained any communications with the Applicant or Firm Capital"
" I am advised by Dundas Kwok, a director of Markland and a minority shareholder of the Debtors, that the Debtors' majority shareholder and main principal Wenyi Wang ("Wang") moved to China shortly after March 2020 and has been back to Canada since then. Wang has not maintained any communication with MarshallZher since April 2023. I understand that the Debtor's minority shareholders, who hold less than 10% of the Debtors' shares, are still involved with the Debtors' business, but are not taking active steps to manage the business or advance the development. I am also advised by Chaitons that the Debtors legal counsel, Owens Wright, advised Chaitons that their clients have not been responsive to their emails."
There is also a lawsuit against Alvin Wenyi Wang for "unjust enrichment": https://www.canlii.org/en/on/onsc/doc/2023/2023onsc5414/2023onsc5414.html?resultIndex=1&resultId=cc89418d64644e4fa0ffd131cafa0979&searchId=2024-03-19T03:07:53:098/b23f7c4840794c528ca24dc640b7e294&searchUrlHash=AAAAAQAKV2VueWkgV2FuZwAAAAAB
The Statement of Claim pleads that on or about May 13, 2014, King Square fraudulently transferred a portion of the Project to a new but related corporation, King Square Hotel Corporation, which later changed its name to Markland Residential Corporation, (“Markland Residential”). Mr. Wang is also an officer and director of Markland Residential as well as its directing mind.
